Back Judicial Conference to mark the National Justice Day in Albania

Judicial Conference to mark the National Justice Day in Albania

On 9 May 2022, a conference entitled “Justice in challenging times”, focusing on important challenges faced by the judiciary, is organised in Albania to mark the National Day of Justice.  The chair of the High Judicial Council, the Minister of Justice, Albanian judges, governing bodies of the judiciary, representatives of the European Union delegation and the USA Embassy in Tirana, and other international partners will participate to this meeting.

Efficiency of justice, independence and accountability of the judiciary, professional education of new magistrates and public confidence are among the topics presented by guests, including the Acting President of the High Court, High Inspector of Justice and Director of the School of Magistrates.

As these challenges are also the focus of support provided by CEPEJ through the SEJ III Action,  the CEPEJ president Mr Ramin Garagurbanli will emphasise that the support that CEPEJ has provided to Albania in this particular moment of the implementation of the reform in the judiciary constitutes an opportunity to improving the administration of justice and bring the Albanian judiciary up to the standards and norms of the Council of Europe.

This activity is organised within the framework of the joint EU/CoE Action “Strengthening the Efficiency and Quality of Justice in Albania”, which is part of the joint programme entitled "Horizontal Facility of the Western Balkans and Turkey II", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
