Albanian Government Approves New Judicial Map

The Council of Ministers approved on 23 July 2022 the joint proposal of High Judicial Council (HJC) and Ministry of Justice (MoJ) for a new judicial map in Albania. Since 2018, CEPEJ supported the Albanian justice institutions to use CEPEJ methodology for the review of judicial map and conduct statistical analysis on impact of the re-organization of the court system. In early 2022, CEPEJ facilitated a series of public consultations that HJC and MoJ held with various interest groups (lawyers, notaries, businesses, and civil society organizations). Following the adoption of the new judicial map, CEPEJ could provide further expertise to ensure smooth implementation of the re-organization of the Albanian court system.

The support for judicial map was provided in the framework of the joint EU/CoE Action “Strengthening the Efficiency and Quality of Justice in Albania”, which is part of the joint programme entitled "Horizontal Facility of the Western Balkans and Turkey II", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.”
