In an effort to enhance the efficiency and quality of justice in five project’s pilot courts, the HFIII Action “Strengthening the Efficiency and Quality of Justice in BiH (BIHSEJ)” piloted by the CEPEJ conducted a workshop “Roadmap for implementation of the expert’s recommendations in pilot courts” on 4-5 March 2024 in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 3^rd Steering Committee Meeting of the project took place within the framework of this activity.

Five project’s pilot courts nominated by the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC) (basic courts in Sokolac, Brcko and Trebinje and municipal courts in Livno and Cazin) participated to this workshop. Following the first needs assessments carried out in these pilot courts in 2023, recommendations linked to the difficulties identified in terms of efficiency and quality of services provided to users in these jurisdictions were presented and discussed with the court management of each court and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, with the aim to agree on tailored support activities.

This event also served as an opportunity to train the court management of these courts on the role of court presidents and the use of CEPEJ efficiency indicators and statistics to monitor court performance and make data-based decisions. A second training session was devoted to judicial communication with other legal professionals, the public and the media, and specifically to crisis communication.

3^rd Steering Committee Meeting of the project was held on 5 March in the presence of project’s key beneficiaries (HJPC, pilot courts, judicial training centres) and the European Union Delegation, during which recent major developments and achievements were discussed, and future activities were agreed upon.

This activity was organised by CEPEJ action “HFIII: HF 4 - Strengthening the Efficiency and Quality of Justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiHSEJ)”, which is part of the joint programme entitled "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye III", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
