The European Union's made a proposal on 27 September 2024 to reclassify the wolf (Canis lupus) from Appendix II (Strictly protected fauna species) to Appendix III (Protected fauna species) of the Bern Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats.
