Alleged threat to fauna species and protected sites due to the proposed construction of a lithium mine in the Jadar River Valley

The complaint was submitted in 2021 by Earth Thrive on the construction of a lithium mine in the Jadar River Valley and supporting infrastructures such as a processing plant, a tailings storage facility area, and roads, which will, according to the complainant, impact a total area of about 293 km including Emerald Network sites.

The complaint states that the mine causes the loss of plant and animal species, reduced habitat connectivity, pollution (air, soil, water), major deforestation due to road construction and tailings, bioaccumulation of heavy metals, and leaching within rivers and streams.
