“I am honored to have been re-elected as President of GRETA for the next two years, a period which undoubtedly will bring new challenges in the fight against human trafficking, but also new resolve to tackle them”, said Helga Gayer (Germany) in a video message after her re-election, on 30 March 2023, for a new term as President of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA).
“We are proud to state that our monitoring work has triggered many changes in law, at policy level and in practice,” she added, recalling that GRETA will soon start its fourth evaluation round of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. The President highlighted the topics on which GRETA intends to focus, including vulnerabilities to human trafficking, as well as the impact of information and communication technology on trafficking in human beings.
GRETA also re-elected Antoaneta Vassileva (Bulgarian), senior expert at Animus/La Strada Bulgaria and coordinator of the Bulgarian Centre for Safer Internet, as 1st Vice-President, and Sergey Ghazinyan (Armenian), lecturer at the State University of Yerevan and the American University of Armenia, as 2nd Vice-President.
