A total of 60 participants, including 50 English teachers from across Türkiye came together to develop new foreign language test materials for K-12 students, in line with international standards, to strengthen foreign language education and assessment.
Over the course of five days, teachers worked on designing items and tasks for parallel test forms to be developed for K-12 students within the scope of the project.
Supported by national and international consultants, teachers developed assessment materials for reading, writing, listening, and speaking in alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) at A1, A2, and B1 levels. During the workshop, teachers strengthened their skills in language assessment and design.
The workshop resulted in the development of a new set of foreign language assessment materials aligned with international standards to inform foreign language education policies. Teachers will continue refining the materials in late June to finalise the tests at A1, A2 and B1 levels.
This activity is part of the Joint Programme on "Enhancing Foreign Language Education Quality in Türkiye", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe in close co-operation with the Ministry of National Education.
