Mathieu Mori, Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, will visit Romania on 9 and 10 February 2026.

The objective of the visit is to discuss democratic security at local level and the implementation of Congress monitoring recommendations on the application of the European Charter of Local Self-Government.  An emphasis will be put on the contributions of Romanian local authorities towards a New Democratic Pact for Europe.

Secretary General Mori will have meetings with Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration Attila-Zoltan Cseke, Mayor of Bucharest Ciprian Ciucu, President of the Association of Romanian Towns Vlad Oprea, as well as members of the Romanian delegation to the Congress.

He will also address the General Assembly of the Association of Communes of Romania and meet with the Association’s President Emil Drăghici, as well as the leadership of the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South-East Europe (NALAS).
