COE – OAS/CICTE Conference on Terrorism and Cyber security

San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, April 16-17, 2009

An international conference on “Terrorism and Cyber Security”, had been co-organised by the Organisation of American States Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (OAS/CICTE) and the Council of Europe (CoE) in the framework of the Spanish Chairmanship in the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers.

This event brought together national and international experts to share their experience in combating the use of the Internet for terrorist purposes and ensuring the protection of the Internet and critical infrastructure from cyber attacks by terrorists.

The Conference offered participating States a valuable insight into how to better implement existing policies and standards in these fields. It was also intended as a discussion-oriented forum for exchanging information, experiences, ideas, and innovative approaches.
