Interview with Gioia Scappucci,
Secretary of the Lanzarote Committee

27.04.12 - Mrs Scappucci introduces the
key characteristics of the Council of Europe Convention on the
Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse,
also known as the “Lanzarote Convention”. She describes the aims of this
convention and how this convention can have an impact on children's
lives. She points out: “as far as prevention is concerned, it requests
states to put in place structures to help them understand what is wrong
and how to protect themselves”. Mrs Scappucci also introduces the
Lanzarote Committee, the monitoring body mandated to verify how states
are implementing the Lanzarote Convention.
