Signatures and Ratifications 2011

18/10/2011 Cyprus has accepted 9 additional provisions of the Revised Charter
During his speech delivered on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the European Social Charter, Mr Thorbjorn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, expressed his satisfaction at Cyprus' acceptance to be bound by nine new provisions of the European Social Charter Revised.  He hopes that other States will follow the example of Cyprus who ratified the Revised Charter on 27 September 2000 and the Additional Protocol providing for a system of collective complaints on 6 August 1996.

20 May 2011 Austria has ratified the Revised European Social Charter
The Permanent Representative of Austria transmitted the instruments of ratification to the Secretary General on 20 May 2011, making Austria the 31st State to ratify the Revised Charter. (Entry into force: 1 July 2011).  To date 43 States have ratified either the Revised Charter or the 1961 Charter (31 ratifications of  the Revised Charter and 12 ratifications of the 1961 Charter).

A message from the President of the European Committee of Social Rights following Austria’s ratification of the Revised Charter
[30/06/2011]  The President of the European Committee of Social Rights, Mr. Luis Jimena Quesada, expressed his satisfaction at Austria’s ratification of the Revised Charter, which made it the 31st State Party to this Council of Europe treaty which safeguards social rights. A total of 43 countries have now ratified either the 1961 Charter or the Revised Charter. (more information)
