CONFERENCES. WORKSHOPS, STUDY VISITS
2 December 2011 Buenos Aires, Argentina Mr Andrzej Swiatkowski, member of the European Committee of Social Rights, gave a lecture on the European Social Charter at the Colegio Público de Abogados de la de la Capital Federal (Law Society of Buenos Aires).  
1 December 2011 Chisinau, Moldova Seminar on Non-Accepted Provisions, Chisinau (Moldova), 01/12/2011A seminar on the provisions of the Charter which have not yet been accepted by Moldova was held in Chisinau on 1 December 2011. This seminar also provided the occasion for an exchange of views and information on these provisions as well as for assistance in the drafting of national reports. This seminar was attended by Mr. Petros Stangos, member of the European Committee of Social Rights, Mr Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter and of the European Code of Social Security and Ms Danuta Wisniewska-Cazals, Administrator.  Draft programme 
30 November 2011 Dublin (Ireland) Mr Colm O'Cinneide, Vice President of the European Committee of Social Rights and Ms Niamh Casey, Administrator in the Department of the European Social Charter and the European Code of Social Security, will participate in a meeting on the Charter in Dublin (Ireland) on 29 November 2011.  
21 November 2011 Warsaw (Poland) The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights held a conference in Warsaw (Poland) from 21-22 November 2011 to address the issue of access to fundamental rights for migrants with an irregular migration status who are living in the European Union.  Ms Jarna Petman, member of the European Committee of Social Rights and Mr Henrik Kristensen, Deputy Head of the Department of the  European Social Charter and of  the European Code of Social Security attended this conference.  Programme  more information
18 November 2011 Monaco A high level conference on children's rights entitled "Building a child-friendly Europe: Turning a vision into reality" in the framework of the Council of Europe's  Strategy for the Rights of the Child 2012-2015 is being held in Monoco from 20 to 21 November 2011.  This conference was attended by Mr Luis Jimena Quesada,  President of the European Committee of Social Rights, and Mr. Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter and of the European Code of Social Security.(more information) Presentation of Luis Jimena Quesada Programme
08 No vember 2011 Zagreb (Croatia)  50 years of the European Social Charter, Zagreb (Croatia), 11 November 2011 A conference entitled "50 years of the European Social Charter: Accomplishments and social challenges for Croatia and Europe" took place in Zagreb on 11 November 2011.  Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights, was a special guest of the Conference.  Programme Article in Croatian press
02 November 2011 Metz, University Paul Verlaine (France) University Conference on European values and human rights
  During the autumn university session organised by the University  Paul Verlaine, Metz (France) and based on the theme "Mobility and European values", Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter and of the European Code of Social Security, gave a conference on European values and human rights. 20 September 2011 Moscow, Russian Federation A Seminar on the European Social Charter was held in Moscow, to assist in the drafting of the first report.

4 to 29 July 2011 Strasbourg, France, International Institute of Human Rights A study session entitled "The effectiveness of the international protection of human rights" was held from 4 to 29 July 2011 at the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg.  Mr Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights and Mr Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter,  participated in this study session. 21-22 June 2011 Khabarovsk (Russian Federation) A forum entitled "Modernising social services will help us to improve the quality of life" was held in Khabarovsk (Russia) from 21-22 June 2011. This forum was devoted to collaboration between the government and public organisations with the goal of modernising social services. An analysis of relevant texts of the Social Charter will form a basis for this exchange of views and experiences. Mr Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter participated in this event. Programme (Russian only)
21 June 2011 Vilnius (Lithuania) Seminar on the provisions of the Revised Social Charter which have not been accepted by Lithuania
Seminar on Non-Accepted Provisions in Lithuania, 21 June 2011[20/06/2011] A seminar on the provisions of the Revised Charter which have not yet been accepted by Lithuania was held in Vilnius (Lithuania ) on 21 June 2011. This seminar  provided the occasion for an exchange of views and information on these provisions, as well as for a ceremony in honour of the 50th anniversary of the Social Charter and the 10th anniversary of its ratification by Lithuania.  Ms Csilla Kollonay Lehoczky, member of the European Committee of Social Rights and Ms Rovena Demiraj, Administrator in the Department of the European Social Charter, attended this event. 15-16 June 2011 Strasbourg (France) A joint colloquy Council of Europe / UNHCR concerning forcibly displaced persons is being held in Strasbourg
 [15/06/2011] This colloquy, held from 15 - 16 July 2011,  is the first of its kind in bringing together judges and other interlocutors of the three regional human rights instruments, commissions and courts. It will provide a unique forum for discussions on these important instruments for the protection of forcibly displaced persons and the role these courts and commissions play in interpreting and enforcing legal protection norms and standards. Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights and Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter attended this event.		 Programme

10 June 2011 La Rochelle (France) Academic Seminar on the 50th anniversary of the European Social Charter in La Rochelle (France)
Seminar on 50th anniversary of the Charter, La Rochelle (France), June 2011[09/06/2011] This event was organised within the framework of the activities being held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Social Charter and took place at the Law University in La Rochelle on 10 June 2011. It brought together a number of university professors to speak about the impact of the Charter, its efficiency and its caselaw.  Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the Charter, participated in this seminar. 8-10 June 2012 San Sebastian (Spain) International Colloquy on Human Righs in San Sebastian (Spain)
[09/06/2011] An International Colloquy entitled “Human Righs as a hallmark of European policies” was held in San Sebastián (Spain) from 8 to 10 June 2011. This colloquy, organised by "Globernance" (Institute for Democratic Governance), was attended by Polonca Konçar, former President of the European Committee of Social Rights,   Luis Jimena Quesada, currently President of the Committee, and Jean-Michel Belorgey, General Rapporteur. 1-3 June 2011 Madrid (Spain) International Colloquy on the role of Ombudspersons in the protection of human rights in Madrid
[26/05/2011] An international conference entitled "The protection of human rights through the action of ombudspersons" will be held at the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid (Spain) from 1 to 3 June 2011. This colloquy, organised in the framework of the Regional Programme of support to ombudspersons in Latin America, was attended by Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights. 25-26 May 2011 Paris (France) International Colloquy on the justiciability of social rights in Paris
[25/05/2011] An international colloquy entitled "Justiciability of social rights: finally moving forward, was held at the Collège de France in Paris on 25 and 26 May 2011.  This colloquy was attended by Louis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights and Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter. 23 May 2011 The Hague (Netherlands) A conference entitled "Migration and Housing Rights in Europe" was held in The Hague (Netherlands) on 19 May 2011, with the aim of discussing the legal background and specific policies relevant to migration and housing rights in Europe (freedom of movement, local connection policies) and the housing rights of different groups of migrants (undocumented migrants, asylum-seekers, women and children). This conference was attended by the former President of the European Committee of Social Rights, Mrs Polonca Koncar who spoke of the contribution of the Charter and its collective complaint mechanism in the application of social rights in Europe. 9 May 2011 Strasbourg (France) Seminaire à l'Institut international des Droits de l'Homme, 9 mai 2011A seminar of experts entitled "Réflexions autour de la jurisprudence de la Charte sociale" (Reflecting on the case law of the Social Charter), organised in cooperation with the International Institute of Human Rights, was held on 9 May 2011 in Strasbourg. 31 March 2011 Podgorica (Montenegro) A seminar was held in Podgodrica (Montenegro) on 31 March 2011 in order to provide assistance in the drafting of the first report of this state under the Revised European Social Charter and to provide training of government officials and other legal professionals as well as representatives of civil society in the legal requirements of the Charter.(read more) Programme
30 March 2011 Valencia (Spain) Hearing in Valencia on integration of immigrants in regions and cities, March 2011[29/03/2011] Mr. Luis Jimena-Quesada, President of the European Committee for Social Rights, participated in a hearing organised by the European Economic and Social Committee entitled “Integrating immigrants in regions and cities : avenues for cooperation between civil society and local and regional authorities".(more information) Programme

18 February 2011 Andorra  A meeting was held in Andorra on 18 February 2011 to allow for an exchange of views and information on the provisions of the Revised Charter which have not be accepted by Andorra. Mr Luis Jimena-Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights and Mr Petros Stangos, member of the Committee will participate in this meeting as well as Mr Ramon Prieto-Suarez, administrator in the Department of the European Social Charter.
