A seminar on the provisions of the Charter which have not yet been accepted by
Moldova was held in Chisinau on 1 December 2011. This seminar also provided the occasion for an exchange of views and information on these
provisions as well as for assistance in the drafting of national reports.
This seminar was attended by Mr. Petros Stangos, member of the European
Committee of Social Rights, Mr Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the
European Social Charter and of the European Code of Social Security and Ms
Danuta Wisniewska-Cazals, Administrator. |

| 21 November 2011 | Warsaw (Poland) | The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights held a conference in Warsaw (Poland) from 21-22 November 2011 to address the issue of access to fundamental rights for migrants with an irregular migration status who are living in the European Union. Ms Jarna Petman, member of the European Committee of Social Rights and Mr Henrik Kristensen, Deputy Head of the Department of the European Social Charter and of the European Code of Social Security attended this conference. |

| 18 November 2011 | Monaco | A high level conference on children's rights entitled "Building a child-friendly Europe: Turning a vision into reality" in the framework of the Council of Europe's Strategy for the Rights of the Child 2012-2015 is being held in Monoco from 20 to 21 November 2011. This conference was attended by Mr Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights, and Mr. Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter and of the European Code of Social Security.(more information) |

Mr Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights and Mr Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter, participated in this study session. |

A forum entitled "Modernising social services will help us to improve the quality of life"
was held in Khabarovsk (Russia) from 21-22 June 2011. This forum was devoted to collaboration between the government and public organisations with the goal of modernising social services. An analysis of relevant texts of the Social Charter will form a basis for this exchange of views and experiences. Mr Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter
participated in this event.

been accepted by Lithuania [20/06/2011] A seminar on the provisions of the Revised Charter which have not yet been accepted by Lithuania
was held in Vilnius (Lithuania
) on 21 June 2011. This seminar provided the occasion for an exchange of
views and information on these provisions, as well as for a ceremony in honour
of
the 50th anniversary of the Social Charter and the 10th anniversary of its
ratification by Lithuania. Ms Csilla Kollonay Lehoczky, member of the
European Committee of Social Rights and Ms Rovena Demiraj, Administrator in
the Department of the European Social Charter, attended
this event. |

A joint colloquy Council of Europe / UNHCR concerning forcibly
displaced persons is being held in Strasbourg [15/06/2011] This colloquy, held from 15 - 16 July 2011, is the first of its kind in bringing together judges and other interlocutors of the three regional human rights instruments, commissions and courts. It will provide a unique forum for discussions on these important instruments for the protection of forcibly displaced persons and the role these courts and commissions play in interpreting and enforcing legal protection norms and standards. Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights and Régis Brillat, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter attended this event. |

This colloquy, organised by "Globernance" (Institute for Democratic Governance), was attended by Polonca Konçar, former President of the European Committee of Social Rights, Luis Jimena Quesada, currently President of the Committee, and Jean-Michel Belorgey, General Rapporteur. |

International Colloquy on the role of Ombudspersons in the protection of
human rights in Madrid [26/05/2011] An international conference entitled "The protection of human rights through the action of ombudspersons" will be held at the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid (Spain) from 1 to 3 June 2011. This colloquy, organised in the framework of the Regional Programme of support to ombudspersons in Latin America, was attended by Luis Jimena Quesada, President of the European Committee of Social Rights. |

A conference entitled "Migration and Housing Rights in Europe" was held in
The Hague (Netherlands) on 19 May 2011, with the aim of discussing the legal background and specific policies relevant to migration and housing rights in Europe (freedom of movement, local connection policies) and the housing rights of different groups of migrants (undocumented migrants, asylum-seekers, women and children).
This conference was attended by the former President of the European
Committee of Social Rights, Mrs Polonca Koncar who spoke of the contribution
of the Charter and its collective complaint mechanism in the application of
social rights in Europe. |
