[18/09/2012]  International Planned Parenthood Federation European Network (IPPF EN) has lodged a complaint against Italy, Complaint No. 87/2012.

The complaint was registered on 9 August 2012. 

The complaint concerns the right to health (Article 11 of the European Social Charte) read alone or in conjunction with the non-discrimination clause in Article E.  due to inadequate protection of the right to access procedures for the termination of pregnancy.

The complainant organisation alleges that the formulation of Article 9 of  Law No. 194 of 1978, which governs the conscientious objection of medical practitioners in relation to the termination of pregnancy, is in violation with the aforementioned provision of the Charter, in that it does not does not protect the right to ccess termination of pregnancy procedures.
