The competition is open to all citizens and residents of the 48 UN Member States in Europe: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and United Kingdom.
Yes, there will be a cash first prize of €5,000 donated by the Spanish Presidency of the European Union.
A selection of 15 finalists will be made through popular vote on the competition website. Additional 15 finalists will be selected by the competition organizers.
The winners will be chosen among the finalists in June 2010 by a jury comprising of prominent European advertising and marketing experts, as well as leading artists, designers, along with the United Nations communication experts.
Text or slogans used in the advertisement can be in any of the official languages of the 48 European countries of eligibility. If the submitted text is in languages other than English a translation must be provided. Entries submitted without translation may be disregarded.
You can submit your ad on our webpage www.wecanendpoverty.eu which opens during the month of April. If you already have an idea you can submit before that by sending it to us on : info@wecanendpoverty.eu
The winning ad will be published in major European print media. The work of all 30 finalists will be shown at an exhibit in Brussels with a possibility of exhibits in other locations.
The awards ceremony will take place in early September 2010, the exact date to be confirmed.
No, all entries have to be uploaded via the campaign website the www.wecanendpoverty.eu.
You can submit up to 5 entries.
· I have an ad in size bigger than 768 x 1024, or 2MB can I submit it?
No, Your work has to be in the specified size, which is mandatory in order for the campaign website to display all the entries correctly. The submission engine will not enable submission of larger sizes or files.
· I don’t see my work on the website even though I seem to have successfully submitted it using the website form.
If you were successful in uploading your files on the campaign site, you should have received the confirmation e-mail and should be able to see your work on the campaign website within 3 working days of the submission date, unless its content was judged to be in contravention of the competition rules. In this case you should have received the appropriate notification. If you do not see your work on the site, if you have not received any confirmation e-mails, or if you believe that the rejection notice may be in error, please contact us at info@wecanendpoverty.eu
· If my entry is accepted, what will you use for reproduction?
If your work is accepted we will request the most appropriate reproduction materials at that time. You will be requested to provide a high resolution image (at least 300dpi) in the prescribed size - A4 portrait or A5 landscape. If you fail to produce a professional reproduction quality image in prescribed size, you may be excluded from the list of finalists.
Each entry will be judged on its own merit. If two or more of your entries are designed to work together, please specify this in your "Comments" in the submission form.
Creative credits will be requested if your work is chosen as a finalist.
There are no separate categories for students or professionals. All entries will be judged equally.
If your entry is chosen for the finals, you will be notified at the e-mail address used to submit your work at the end of selections process in June 2010. Please watch the website for exact date.
Although you do not need to send us a copy of the release forms for these, we do suggest that you get them. You should have all rights to protect yourself, as your work will be appearing not the campaign website. If your work is chosen you will need to grant us the rights to reproduce the image or images for both the exhibits and the printing in various publications.
You agree to share rights to your work with the United Nations. By entering this competition you agree not to distribute your submitted work anywhere without prior agreement by the UN.
