CEMAT pilot regions
Resolution No. 2 adopted at the 13th session of the European Conference of Ministers responsible for Regional Planning (CEMAT), Ljubljana, on 17 September 2003, states:
"The ministers responsible for regional planning of the member states of the Council of Europe, desirous of promoting a new approach to spatial planning based on Recommendation
Rec(2002)1 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Spatial Development of the European Continent,
Instruct the Committee of Senior Officials to establish a Pan-European Network of
'CEMAT Model Regions (regions of innovation)' committed to developing good practice for the implementation of the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Spatial Development of the European Continent, which constitute pilot examples for other regions."
Several projects, often based on a transnational and transfrontier cooperation, have been carried out with a view to implementing the Resolution.
