Council of Europe Cultural Events Label

The Council of Europe "Cultural Event" (CECEL) label recognises exceptional and innovative cultural and artistic projects, which convey strong messages related to the Council of Europe’s mission and values and address key challenges of the European societies of today.

  

Selection


The CECEL is awarded every calendar year to a small number of outstanding projects.

 

The selection committee chooses the projects to be awarded on the basis of artistic value, relevance to the concerns of contemporary European societies and the Council of Europe’s mission and values, innovative approach, diversity of audiences and means of expression, geographical scope, etc.

 

The list of Council of Europe values, principles and campaigns to which the projects should refer:

 

Values: Human Rights, pluralist democracy, rule of law,

 

Priorities: cultural identity and diversity, integration and rights of minorities, social rights, the fight against exclusion, prevention of intolerance and discrimination, prevention of violence against women and children, intercultural dialogue, combating corruption, organised crime and terrorism, education for citizenship, climate change, gender equality;

 

Campaigns: Speak out against discrimination, Stop domestic violence against women, Dosta! Fight prejudices towards Roma, All different all equal, Building a Europe for and with children.

 

Visibility


The Council of Europe will give publicity to the event selected via the website on culture and cultural and natural heritage.

 

The awarded projects will be able to use the CECEL label according to the rules defined by the Communication Department of the Council of Europe.
