14.04.2011 - The Network of
Contact Parliamentarians to stop sexual violence against
children met for the second time in Strasbourg, on
Wednesday 13 April 2011. The subject of the meeting was
fighting “child pornography” on the Internet.
The national parliaments once again demonstrated their
commitment to the campaign. New contact parliamentarians
have been appointed since January 2011 and there are now
37 members. The meeting, which was chaired by Ms Liliane
Maury Pasquier, began with an address by Mr Agustín
Conde Bajén (EPP/CD, Spain) on the preparation of his
report on “Combating child pornography as part of the
campaign to stop sexual violence against children”,
followed by a presentation by Mr John Carr, Senior
expert adviser to the International Telecommunication
Union, Child Online Protection Initiative (United
Kingdom).
The two statements gave rise to a debate with contact
parliamentarians on the most effective ways of putting a
stop to “child pornography” on the Internet.
