21.09.2011 - Croatia today ratified the Convention
on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (“Lanzarote
Convention”, CETS 201) bringing the number of contracting parties to 15.
By ratifying the Lanzarote Convention, Croatia joins forces with other member states
of the Council of Europe and shows its strong commitment to combat sexual violence
against children.
Croatia will be hosting a Regional Conference “Stopping Sexual Violence against Children”
that will bring together participants from various member states such as: Albania, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, “the former Yugoslav
Republic of Macedonia” and Turkey. This conference will take place in Zagreb, on 27-28 October 2011
and it is organised by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Ministry of Family, Veterans'
Affairs and Intergenerational Solidarity and Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia.
