The second meeting of the Steering Committee of the Joint Project on “Supporting the Individual Application to the Constitutional Court in Turkey” was held on 14 October 2016 in Ankara. The representatives of the Constitutional Court, the main beneficiary of the project, the project stakeholders (the Court of Cassation, the Council of State, the Ministry of Justice, the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors, the Military Court of Cassation, the High Military Administrative Court, Justice Academy, Union of Turkish Bar Associations, EU Delegation and the Central Finance and Contracts Unit) and observers (Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the Ombudsman Institution and the National Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey) attended the meeting. After the opening speeches, delivered by Mr Michael Ingledow, Head of Ankara Programme Office of the Council of Europe and Mr Selim Erdem, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court, Mr Suranga Soysa, Project Coordinator and Mr Yücel Erduran, Project Manager, briefed the participants on the progress of the project and its activities organized since the last meeting of the Steering Committee in April 2016, and presented the adjustments proposed to be made to the Description of the Action. The meeting ended following the comments and recommendations of stakeholders regarding the implemented activities and planned modifications.
