Faster and simpler electoral registration and reporting in the Republic of Moldova

How to simplify registration and accreditation processes for observers, representative of electoral competitors, upgrade searching engines when gathering and processing data, including information from the polling stations outside the Republic of Moldova, use of world maps based on freeware engines were discussed at online meeting on 31 June 2020 in Chisinau.

Adding new functionalities to the State Automation Informational System “Elections” will simplify and unify the registration of electoral documents, as well as reporting processes. Previously, these activities were for the most part being processed manually by the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova (CEC) and other Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) which was very time consuming.

Representatives of the CEC expressed expectations to have the re-engineered module “Preliminary Registration” and newly developed module “Documentation” of the SAISE by the upcoming Presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova on 1 November 2020.

A team of Council of Europe experts promised that all the requirements and functionalities will be considered and they will make the application as user friendlier as possible. At the same time, it was underlined that the re-engineered module and the new one should be fully integrated within the other modules of the SIASE and accessible for all levels of the EMBs.

The activity is funded and implemented by the Council of Europe within the on-going project “Improving electoral practice in the Republic of Moldova”.
