CyberSouth+ Fourth Steering Committee meeting

The CyberSouth+ joint initiative of the European Union and the Council of Europe convened its fourth4th Steering Committee meeting to take stock of progress achieved since the previous meeting and agree on planned activities for the next six months.

Representatives from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine* and Tunisia presented their assessments of project achievements and shared national priorities and capacity building needs for the period ahead.

Among the results highlighted for the first half of 2026 were enhanced skills and knowledge in the area of OCSEA, progress in addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence through the development of a dedicated toolkit for practitioners in the MENA region, and the delivery of regional and international practical training activities.

Looking ahead, the project will continue to focus on supporting legislative alignment with international standards on cybercrime and e-evidence, strengthening operational capacities across criminal justice and law enforcement, and advancing co-operation frameworks at both national and regional levels.

CyberSouth+ will also continue working alongside its Southern Mediterranean partners in collaboration with other initiatives in the region addressing cybercrime and electronic evidence.
