Strengthening healthcare and human rights protection in prisons (PGG)

The duration of the Project was 41 months and has been completed by 31 December 2018. The overall project budget was EUR 1.228.000 and it was co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, under the auspices of the Council of Europe/European Union Partnership for Good Governance for Eastern Partnership Countries.
The aims of the project were:
- to improve the legal/institutional framework of healthcare in prisons of Armenia;
- to improve material conditions of prisons’ healthcare units, with a special focus on prisons highlighted as the most problematic in CPT reports;
- to strengthen the capacity and the general knowledge of the prison staff on European standards on the provision of healthcare, medical ethics and human rights in prisons.
