On-site assessment mission was carried out by two Council of Europe experts on 16, 17 and 18 December 2015 with aim to conduct situation analysis of the existing oversight mechanisms for control over the police work in the country. Meeting were organised with the representatives from the Ministry of Internal affairs, Ministry of Justice, members of the Standing Inquiry Committee for protection of civil freedoms and rights, Association of judges, Association of public prosecutors, OSCE Mission in Skopje, former judge of the European Court of Human Rights, academics, attorney of law and relevant NGOs. 

The aim of the project is the most appropriate model of an independent oversight mechanism for monitoring the police work to be identified and presented to a wider professional audience.

The on-site assessment mission was organised within the scope of the VC project ‘’Support of the establishing of an External Oversight Mechanism (EOM) in North Macedonia, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Netherlands and the  Council of Europe EU and implemented by the Council of Europe.
