A group of 10 law enforcement officers (women and men) was certified to deliver human rights based training in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 1-2 December 2022, in Sarajevo. This activity is as part of an internal accreditation scheme developed in close co-operation with the cantonal and entity Ministries of Interior in BiH.

Within a 6-month long train-the-trainers cycle which is based on the manual ‘’Human rights of persons deprived of liberty in police custody’’ developed earlier in the action this group of police professionals also improved presentation and communication skills, required to competently deliver training to their peers. The core prison and law enforcement staff training team mentored their colleagues throughout this capacity building initiative activity by sharing their institutional knowledge and lessons learned through from previous training experience and ultimately signed off on the accreditation exercise.

The accredited pool of trainers will further develop training materials and deliver training to their peers for the whole duration of phase III Action, until December 2026.

This activity is organised within the framework of the Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey II - "’Strengthening human rights treatment of detained persons based on European standards and best practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina ", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
