Ukraine : Opening of a new Local Democracy agency in Mariupol

On 9 December 2017, the European Association of Local Democracy opened a new Local Democracy Agency in Mariupol (Ukraine). Mayors, members of the Ukrainian Parliament, representatives of civil societies and NGOs assembled for this important step toward the promotion of local democracy and good governance in the easternmost city in Europe.

“I very much welcome the opening of a second local democracy second agency in Ukraine, after that of Dnipropetrovsk Region. The work of ALDA in promoting local democracy and good governance is very important for the Congress. It helps disseminating, at the local and regional level, our instruments and it complements our work in the field, in particular our programmes of cooperation, in Council of Europe member States including Ukraine. I wish the Mariupol LDA a successful and fruitful work” said Congress President Gudrun Mosler-Törnström.
