Public officials and practitioners from the Republic of Moldova gathered for a two-days specialized training on preventing discrimination against national minorities and protecting fundamental rights guaranteed under the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities (FCNM).

Participants, who are also members of the specialised Commission of the National Council for Human Rights for FCNM implementation, deepened their understanding of minority rights standards at European level and discussed state obligations in that respect, including through  the promotion of inclusive public policies. Recommendations  related to equality, inclusion, and non-discrimination following the Fifth Opinion on the Republic of Moldova were at the centre of exchange.

Participants formulated a number of recommendations aimed at strengthening the national framework for the protection of persons belonging to national minorities against discrimination and renewed commitment to continue strengthening inclusive governance, promoting equality and advancing policies that ensure the effective protection of the rights of persons belonging to national minorities.

This event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, in the framework of the Council of Europe project Combating discrimination, hate speech and hate crimes in the Republic of Moldova, financed under the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic
