European regions to launch the Intercultural Regions Network
The initiative has been presented on 5 November at the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the European Union in Brussels, with the participation of representatives of twelve regions from Spain, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, UK and Italy. It has the support of the Assembly of European Regions and benefits from the methodological support of the Council of Europe’s Intercultural cities programme.
4th Meeting of the Policy Lab on inclusive integration – Publication of the Report
On 13-14 November around twenty representatives of cities, states and regions gathered in Limassol – Cyprus, for the 4th meeting of the Policy Lab on inclusive integration. The purpose of the meeting was to further work on the draft “Policy Framework on Intercultural Integration” for the national level.
Publication of the report of the ICC meeting of coordinators
Cities that are member of the international Intercultural Cities network hold coordination meetings once per year to take stock of achievements and prepare the next programme of work with a view to further develop both the intercultural cities’ network and the intercultural integration policy model. This year meeting was hosted by the city of Odessa, Ukraine, on 25-26 September.
International Migrants Day - Reggio Emilia welcomes new Italians with a citizenship kit
The Municipal Administration of Reggio Emilia has created "Nati sotto lo stesso cielo" (Born under the same sky), a kit to be given to new citizens at the ceremony of conferral of Italian citizenship, as a sign of welcome in the community. The kit will be distributed for the first time, along with a copy of the Constitution, as part of the ceremony scheduled in the Hall of the Tricolore (national flag) of Reggio Emilia on 18 December, the International Migrants Day.
Results of the “Diversity Advantage Challenge” launched by the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI)
Following the experience of the Council of Europe in 2015 and with the support of the Foundation La Caixa, the Spanish network of Intercultural cities has launched the second edition of the “RECI Diversity Advantage Challenge”. This challenge is held in order to identify concrete examples of initiatives that have proven to make a better use of the diversity advantages.

Human rights aspects of immigrant and refugee integration policies
The publication “Human rights aspects of immigrant and refugee integration policies” assesses recent integration policies in 10 Council of Europe member countries (Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom) showing their weaknesses and good practices.
The Intercultural Cities Calendar of activities for 2020 is now online! It features the main events organised by the ICC programme or in which the ICC policy model is presented. The calendar is a living tool and it is updated at least once per month. Don’t forget to check it regularly!
