Support to the High School of Justice of Georgia: designing together the Advanced Court Administration and Management and Leadership modules

On 8 June 2017, the trainers and staff of the High School of Justice and representatives of the High Council of Justice met in Tbilisi to design two new training modules on advanced court administration and on management and leadership. The workshop was lead by Bert Maan and Hermine Masmeyer, consultants for the Council of Europe.

In the words of Valeri Tsertsvadze, chair of the HSoJ Board   "People are the most important resources in courts, and presidents and managers need the ability to make the most of resources. By the end of the day, we'll design a training course, tailored for the Georgian judiciary, accessible and beneficial to all concerned". The director of the HSoJ Lasha Maghradze echoed the importance of these trainings : "through the today's meeting we anticipate to raise the professional development to a whole new level for court presidents and managers, with thanks to the Council of Europe support, our long-term partner".

As a result of the meeting, the scope of the training module was identified based on judges leadership development needs and court organisation and management needs, based on an integrated approach. The session will be followed by a three day Training of Trainers planned to take place at the end of June.

The activity was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening the capacity of the High School of Justice of Georgia”. This Project is funded by voluntary contributions of Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Norway, Slovakia and Sweden to support the implementation of the Council of Europe Action plan for Georgia 2016-2019.
