Another group of Georgian lawyers got acquainted with anti-discrimination standards

The Council of Europe continues series of trainings for legal professional in Georgia on Anti-Discrimination standards under ECHR and on 6-7 June 2017, within the EU funded project, organized two-day training for lawyers.

The training was delivered by national and international consultants and explored the principles and standards related to antidiscrimination both at international and national level. As a result, the participants advanced knowledge on the basics of antidiscrimination: definitions and stages in the process of assessing a discrimination complaint. Particular emphasis was placed on the notion of comparator, legitimate aim, reasonable and objective justification.

The event was organized in the framework of the European Union – Council of Europe joint project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in Georgia in line with European standards”, being implemented under the EU-CoE Partnership for Good Governance.
