International Forum

The first international Forum “Freedom of Expression and Judicial Ethics” co-organised and supported by the Office of Independent Inspector, Council of Europe, EU4Justice Support to the Judiciary project and USAID funded program Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia will be held on 5 July in Tbilisi.

The forum aims at raising awareness on freedom of expression and judicial ethics and discussing the balance between freedom of expression of judges and modern challenges.  The event will focus on general legal framework and country -specific experience; best practices shared by international experts, main challenges of Social Media and Judicial ethics, and recommendations of the development social media guidelines for judges.

The Conference will commence at 09:30 at Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace with remarks from Independent Inspector Ketevan Tsintsadze, Acting Chief Justice Mzia Todua, Secretary of the High Council of Justice Giorgi Mikautadze, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia Cristian Urse, the Head of EU4Justice project Renate Winter, and the Head of the USAID/PROLoG Giorgi Chkheidze. 

The independent Inspector will present recent reform in Georgia on disciplinary matters.

Participants to the Conference include Georgian Judiciary, government representatives, the international community, media and civil society.

The event is fully open to media.
