Retour Training on Freedom of Expression for Judges

Training on Freedom of Expression for Judges

On 14-15 December 2019 the Council of Europe in cooperation with the High School of Justice organised training for judges on Freedom of Expression.

The aim of the training was to familiarise participants with most recent case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and national and international standards on right to Freedom of Expression.  Participants had a possibility to get acquainted with the structure of Article 10 and qualified rights under the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR); judges discussed such topics as freedom of political expression, morality, religious feelings and the case law of the ECtHR related to the Freedom of Expression.

The event was organised as part of the Council of Europe cooperation project “Fighting Discrimination, Hate Crime and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is conducted with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP) under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia.
