The Intellectual Game on Equality – inspiring diversity awareness among school students

To mark the International Day for Protection of Children, a thought provoking event on children's rights and equality took place at the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia. The event was organised with the support of the Council of Europe facilitated by the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions.

The launching event of the intellectual game was attended by Gela Geladze, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Natalia Voutova, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Sophio Abulashvili, Acting Head of the  Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions, heads of educational resource centers, school principals, teachers, resource officers and school students.

“This event signifies our commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and human rights education among the youth. By organising this intellectual game, we aim to provide an interactive and enjoyable method for youth to gain knowledge on these important topics.”-  said Natalia Voutova, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia

During the event, school students of public schools curated an exhibition showcasingposters and paintings centered around the themes of children's rights, equality and tolerance. The second part of the event was dedicated to the intellectual game, where teams composed of 10th grade students from six public schools of Tbilisi participated.

The students of Tbilisi N169 school won the intellectual game held on the topic of equality.

From this month, with the support of the Council of Europe, the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions will organise similar intellectual games for students of public schools in different regions of Georgia.

This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Promoting the Effective Protection of Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia.” The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
