Series of Meetings with Citizens and Free Legal Aid Lawyers in Regions

The Legal Aid Service (LAS) started a series of meetings with citizens and free legal aid lawyers in regions of Georgia with the support of the Council of Europe.  Meetings will be held in 8 municipal centers of the Samegrelo region and 3 municipal centers of Guria region. Overall, 11 meetings will be organised during May and June 2022 and will engage up to 450 citizens and free legal aid lawyers.

During the meetings management and staff of the Legal Aid Service will provide information to citizens on available free legal assistance and discuss matters most frequently encountered by LAS lawyers in concerned regions. Topics will include violence against women and family violence, rights of a child, social assistance and access to social care. Within the framework of the initiative the LAS will also organise three moot courts involving free legal aid lawyers in both Samegrelo and Guria regions.

The Project “Enhanced Access to Legal Aid Services for Marginalised Population” is implemented with the support of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Netherlands, Liechtenstein and Latvia.
