Séminaire sur la réforme de l'administration publique au niveau local et régional

The Good Governance Division of the Council of Europe was invited to present its work in the context of a seminar on public administration reform at local and regional level organised by the European Commission and Czech Presidency of Visegrad Group in Brest, Belarus 27-30 June.

The work of the CDDG and the tools and activities of the Centre of Expertise were presented to delegations from all 6 beneficiary countries of the Eastern Area Partnership as a means of supporting good governance and public Administration reform at the local level.

Participants were introduced to the CDDG as an intergovernmental forum where senior officials from all 47 CoE member states meet to share information, views and good practice on issues concerning territorial reforms, the modernisation of public administration and multi-level governance.

The toolkits and impact-oriented programmes of the Centre of Expertise, including the Strategy for Innovation and Good Governance at Local Level, were presented as effective template programmes drawing on best European experience to contribute to development of effective democratic local government.

Participants expressed particular interest in the activities of the Centre of Expertise and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities carried out in the context of the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus funded by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
