The Council of Europe has been promoting Europe’s electoral heritage in Georgia over a decade. The Electoral assistance project has been cooperating with the Georgian counterparts to ensure integrity, transparency and inclusiveness of electoral practices. International standards and good practices, with an emphasis on the Council of Europe acquis and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, are being promoted and incorporated into the domestic legal framework and electoral practices. Throughout the years, our joint efforts have resulted in diminishing the distrust of Georgian citizens in elections.

The new phase of the project “Supporting Transparency, Inclusiveness and Integrity of Electoral Practice and Process in Georgia” has been launched in January 2020 and is being implemented within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia for 2020 – 2023.
