Workshop on non-conformity with the European Social Charter

The Project “Strengthening the Protection of Social and Economic Rights in Georgia” hosted an online workshop on non-conformity with the European Social Charter. The aim of the workshop was to support Georgian authorities, institutions, NHRIs and social partners in their activities relating to promoting social rights and referring to the European Social Charter, the case-law of the European Committee of Social Rights and the best European practices in increasing the level of protection of social rights and adjusting to the best European standards.

The meeting was attended by representatives from five ministries, the Parliament, the Public Defender’s Office, the Labour Inspection Office, the State Employment Agency, trade unions and employers’ association.

Participants were able to familiarize themselves with the European Social Charter and its monitoring procedures. Monika Smusz-Kulesza, Council of Europe international consultant, presented the conclusions of non-conformity with the Charter relating to Georgia. Gia Kakachia, Council of Europe national consultant, facilitated the discussion among participants to examine the non-conformities with specific provisions of the European Social Charter.
