The project “Quality Education for All” in North Macedonia delivered its first training module on January 24. This marks the start of a series of five modules that will unfold throughout 2024. The training focused on Module 1 – Identities, school culture, and the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture, aims to integrate the values, attitudes, knowledge, and skills essential for critical understanding.
This pioneering module, hosted by the pilot school SUGS “Braka Miladinovci” – Skopje, marks the beginning of a transformative journey for 25 pilot schools across different regions. The schools have been strategically divided into groups, each representing a distinct region. The inaugural session brought together a total of 24 participants from these diverse schools. The participants, derived from seven schools, were made up four members each from their core teams. The schools involved were DSU-RCSOO “Kiro Burnaz” - Kumanovo, Primary School “Hasan Prishtina” - Skopje, Secondary School “Pero Nakov”- Kumanovo, Primary School “Bajram Sabani” - Kumanovo, and Secondary School “Zdravko Cvetkovski” - Skopje.
Aligned with the Council of Europe‘s overarching objective to enhance democratic values and civic competences within the educational system, this training initiative will be implemented in 25 pilot schools. Researching into the complexities of identities, school culture, and the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture, participants will be equipped to play pivotal roles in shaping a socially responsible and democratic society.
The comprehensive programme will train 100 participants from the 25 pilot schools, focusing on nurturing critical thinking, empathy, and creating a profound understanding of democratic principles. This training module shows the Council of Europe‘s commitment to strengthening democratic values and fostering a culture of democracy within educational institutions.
This Project is implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by Germany. It is implemented in co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia from December 2022 to November 2025.
