Lawyers and legal professionals completed the HELP course on Combating Hate Speech and Hate Crime in Macedonian Language

43 lawyers and legal professionals from North Macedonia successfully completed the HELP course on combating hate speech and hate crime in Macedonian language.

The translated HELP course in Macedonian language on combating hate speech and hate crime was launched for the first time last year in Skopje for lawyers and legal professionals from North Macedonia aiming to enhance the skills and capacities of the legal professionals and lawyers in the field of hate speech and hate crime. Raising their capacities in the field, directly contributes to strengthening the legal protection and support of victims of hate speech and hate crime.

This HELP course comes as a follow-up to the excellent co-operation of the joint EU and Council of Europe action on “Combating hatred and intolerance in North Macedonia” and the action “HELP in Western Balkans” with the Bar Association of North Macedonia. During the past few years, about 175 lawyers and legal professionals increased their skills in different topics through participating in the jointly implemented HELP courses covering key topics such as antidiscrimination and combating racism, homophobia, and transphobia etc.

The implementation of the HELP online course on Combating Hate Speech and Hate Crime in Macedonian language was supported by the action “Combating hatred and intolerance in North Macedonia”, part of the joint EU and Council of Europe Programme “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Türkiye III” and the action “HELP in the Western Balkans.
