Attorneys-at law in North Macedonia, will continue to expand their knowledge and expertise in the field of trafficking in human beings, during the forthcoming Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) on-line course conducted during 7 October to 25 November in cooperation with the Bar Association.

The course will provide key information about the definition of human trafficking, identification of trafficking victims, rights and protection of trafficking victims, investigation, prosecution and sentencing of perpetrators.

The participants in their learning journey will be accompanied by the tutor Jelena Ristic, the Vice-President of the Bar Association who is also the co-author of the brochure on legal representation of human trafficking victims, to be published in cooperation with the Bar Association and presented to the participants.

“The HELP anti-trafficking course is an excellent tool for self-learning, it is available to any lawyer who has a keen interest in this topic and it is free.”-said Jelena Ristic at the launching of the course.

Furthermore, the EU and CoE HF anti-trafficking action in cooperation with the Bar Association will be launching another HELP course on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings for post-graduate law students and lawyers’ apprentices by the end of 2020.

These activities are being organised by the European Union and the Council of Europe funded action on preventing and combating human trafficking in North Macedonia Phase II. This action is part of the “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II”, a co-operation initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, which aims at assisting beneficiaries in South-East Europe to comply with the Council of Europe standards and European Union acquis in the framework of the enlargement process.
