North-South Prize of the Council of Europe
The North-South Prize is awarded each year since 1995 to two candidates (activists, personalities or organisations) who have stood out for their exceptional commitment to promoting North-South solidarity.
The candidates (if natural person, preferably a man and a woman) must have distinguished themselves in the following areas: protection of human rights, defence of pluralist democracy, public awareness raising on issues of global interdependence and solidarity. Despite the variety of nationalities and fields of action of those that have received the Prize since its creation, they all have in common a strong commitment to the promotion of North-South partnership.
Amina Bouayach
Ms. Amina Bouayach was selected by the Jury in recognition of her commitment to the promotion of Human Rights, gender equality and the prevention of torture on a regional and continental levels. The Prize aims as well to recognise Ms. Bouayach´s engagement in political advocacy for the abolition of death penalty, as well as her work to reinforce both civil society structures in the Mediterranean region and North-South cooperation based on common democratic values.
Global Campus of Human Rights
Global Campus of Human Rights was selected in recognition of its crucial work in ensuring a high-quality accessible Human Rights education and nurturing a North-South dialogue within a community of academics, students, lawyers, and experts to support universal Human Rights and democratic values.

The Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC)
The Association of Ukrainian Cities was selected by the Jury in recognition of its strong commitment to ensure better integration of Internally Displaced Persons in host communities and to address the socioeconomic challenges that arise in wartime. In addition, the Prize also intends to recognize the Association´s efforts to uphold democratic values by ensuring that laws regulating the functioning of local authorities are fully aligned with the provisions of the European Charter of Local Self-Government.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was selected by the Jury in recognition of its crucial work in raising awareness about the pressing need to globally act against greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the effects of climate change that affect all humanity.
