As part of iLEGEND III, a joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe, this week-long mobilisation spans Europe and beyond, with participation from thirty-two countries and three international organisations. The launch of the campaign sets the stage for discussions and activities highlighting the role that Global Education plays in shaping a just, peaceful, and sustainable world.
At a time when hope is needed more than ever, education becomes a driver for motivation, resilience, and creativity. It provides with the knowledge, skills, and awareness necessary to transform hope into action, empowering them to envision a better world and to take an active role in creating it.
The Global Education Week is part of this broader effort, offering both formal and non-formal learning opportunities that foster reflection, dialogue, and active global citizenship. From classroom sessions to online conferences, the initiative demonstrates that education is not only a means of transmitting knowledge but also a powerful tool for personal and collective empowerment, giving hope to all generations through action.
As coordinator of the Global Education Week at international level, the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe will participate in some national and international events, including:
- 17 November – Webinar on youth participation with national stakeholders, organised by the Association of Italian Organisations and Il nostro Pianeta.
- 20 November – Conference titled “Building Cohesive Communities through Skills & Dialogue”, in Kosovo*, organised by EDUTASK institute, will present success stories from intercultural learning, digital literacy, youth engagement, community dialogue, and local leadership development efforts.
- 20 November – Global Classroom webinar - topics of invisible and young heroes, organised jointly by HAND and its two member organisations (Anthropolis Association, and the Hungarian Society of Environmental Education).
- 21 November – Webinar on the positioning of Italian NGOs on global citizenship, organised by the Association of Italian Organisations.
- 22 November – Shaping a just, peaceful, and sustainable world webinar organised by Koze JEN YO in Haiti.
- 24 November – International joint conference organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro, where national coordinators from Estonia, Romania, Türkiye, and Montenegro will share their experiences on Global Education practices.
- 24 November – Webinar organised by the Portuguese NGDO Platform on the political role of Global Citizenship Education as a strategic tool to question power structures, influence public policies, and strengthen democratic participation.

Global Education helps learners to develop individual and collective responses to social, ecological, political, economic, and ethical issues of common concern. It mobilises commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in particular SDG 4.7: Education for sustainable development and global citizenship.
