On 18 October, Ms Hanne Juncher, Head of the Action against Crime Department at the Council of Europe has intervened at the 14th EHFCN International Conference “How to enhance integrity in the health sector in changing societies: tackling fraud, waste and corruption to ensure the right to health”.

During her participation on the fighting crime and corruption in the health care sector, Ms Juncher has underlined the MEDICRIME Convention as a timely and important instrument given the current health crisis. In the year of its 10th Anniversary, it is reasonable to note that this Convention, the first and only international legally binding instrument that deals with these issues from a criminal point of view, has a strong human rights dimension behind given the public health aspect. It fully endorses the right to protection of health and this for the benefit of every patient.
