Today, the President of GREVIO, Professor Feride Acar, took part in the 7th annual meeting of Presidents of Monitoring and Advisory Bodies.  The meeting discussed possible ways of strengthening the interaction between monitoring and advisory bodies and intergovernmental committees and technical cooperation, through common reflection and exchange of good practices on working methods and achievements, in order to address the evolving priorities and challenges of the Council of Europe member states in the most effective way.

In her intervention, the President of GREVIO focused on progress with the implementation of the Council of Europe Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, key challenges, trends and good practice identified by GREVIO’s evaluation of the implementation of the Convention by the State Parties.

The working session was followed by a working lunch of the Presidents with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe which provided an opportunity to raise collective awareness about the importance, for all monitoring and advisory bodies, to look at their work in a broad, Council of Europe-wide perspective.
