At its 18th meeting held in Strasbourg on 5-6 June 2025, the Committee of the Parties to the Istanbul Convention adopted its first set of recommendations under the first thematic evaluation procedure entitled “Building trust by providing support, protection and justice”. With a timeframe of three years for their implementation, recommendations on further action to take under this theme were adopted in respect of Albania, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Monaco, Montenegro, Spain and Sweden.
Under its baseline evaluation procedure, the Committee of the Parties adopted conclusions on the implementation of recommendations in relation to San Marino and Slovenia, and took note of the implementation reports of Finland, France, Italy, Netherlands and Serbia, showing progress in the implementation of the Committee’s recommendations at the end of a five-year process of follow-up.
In addition, the Committee held two exchanges of views, one with Maria-Andriani Kostopoulou, President of GREVIO, who presented GREVIO’s most recent activity report covering the year 2024, and Carlien Scheele, Director of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), who gave an overview of some of the results of the EU Survey on Gender-based violence published in November 2024 and the Gender Equality Index.
