Council of Europe supports Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Armenia to develop National Action Plan for Combating Domestic Violence

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Armenia in cooperation with relevant national and international stakeholders, including the National Council on Preventing Domestic Violence, has started to define national priorities to address  existing gaps and challenges in the field to develop the National Action Plan for Combating Domestic Violence (2021-2023).

The Council of Europe supports the Ministry and national stakeholders in developing the Action Plan by providing expertise on international and European standards and promising practices to prevent violence against women and domestic violence. Council of Europe experts have provided recommendations to the Ministry in line with the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, signed by Armenia in 2018, and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), acceded by Armenia in 1993.

The National Action Plan will set objectives to improve laws and policies and to increase capacities of authorities to provide better protection and support to the victims and survivor of domestic violence.

Technical support was organised in the framework of the project “The Path towards Armenia's Ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”.
