On 15 April 2025, the Programming Committee on Youth approved two new international activity projects under the EYF special call in support of young people from Ukraine.
The first international activity “Rebuild Ukraine Lab 2025 + Study Visit to Ukraine” will be implemented by the Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe, based in Berlin, Germany.
Their proposal focuses on enhancing young people’s role in the post-war recovery of Ukraine, by holding a three-day workshop in Brasov, Romania, that will bring together 15 young participants, equally split between Ukrainians and their European peers, to develop innovative policy proposals for Ukraine’s reconstruction. These proposals will be published in a Vision Paper and are expected to be disseminated through advocacy actions. Complementing this workshop is a study visit to Ukraine, which offers participants the chance to directly engage with local stakeholders, reconstruction efforts, and youth initiatives on the ground, notably in Lviv.
The second international activity called “Special Call Ukraine: Summer school for young disabled women LEADERKA” will be implemented by the European Network on Independent Living Youth Network (ENIL Youth Network) from Belgium.
The project focuses on empowering 15 young women with disabilities thanks to a four-day international meeting on leadership skills to support their participation in European political processes, uniting for advancing disability-inclusive accession to the EU. Six participants will come from Ukraine and the rest of the participants will come from countries which are holding accession negotiations for the European Union membership (i.e. candidate countries): Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, North Macedonia and Moldova. After the meeting, some of the participants will have placements in organisations of persons with disabilities across Europe, to enhance their advocacy skills. The proposal was first developed by the NGO Fight for Right, a Ukrainian member of ENIL and a partner of ENIL Youth Network in this project.
To date, 52 projects have been awarded €797 842.94 involving 3 768 people.
The special call to support young people from Ukraine was launched in 2022 following the decision of the Council of Europe’s Joint Council of Youth. This initiative responds to the current needs expressed by the Ukrainian authorities and stakeholders in the field of youth.
