Council of Europe supports “Get out the vote” initiatives and voter education campaigns

The Council of Europe Office in Georgia is implementing Get out the vote initiatives and voter education campaigns to encourage active participation of the Georgian citizens in the upcoming local elections of 2 October 2021. This activity will be carried out in co-operation with local non-governmental organisations, International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) and Public Movement Multinational Georgia (PMMG).

The campaign aims to educate, and inform, Georgian voters about their electoral rights and the latest electoral regulations and practices. Various Get out the vote initiatives, such as debate competition, podcasts, hackathons and trainings are used to promote active participation in elections and contribute to the enhancement of democratisation processes. They will take place in Tbilisi, self-governing cities and municipalities – Batumi, Zugdidi, Kutaisi, Gori, Rustavi, Ninotsminda, Akhalkalaki, Marneuli and Gardabani.

All the activities are implemented within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Supporting Transparency, Inclusiveness and Integrity of Electoral Practice and Process in Georgia”.
