“CEC: prosvita”  – the results achieved and prospects for the future in the focus of the strategic session discussions

On 10 December 2020, a strategic session devoted to the creation and launching of an online awareness raising and learning platform “CEC: prosvita”, having become an outcome of a joint efforts and work of the Central Election Commission and the Council of Europe project “Supporting the transparency, inclusiveness and integrity of electoral practice in Ukraine”*, was held in Kyiv. In the course of the event, the participants discussed the achievements and lessons learned out of the launch of the online platform and interactive online courses, as well as defined ideas and suggestions for further development, content creation and promotion of the online platform.

The strategic session was attended by national election experts, representatives of the Central Election Commission, as well as organisations directly involved into the development and launch of the “CEC: prosvita”: studio for online education “EdEra”, creative agency “Platforma”, marketing agency “Big Bangers”. For almost a year, more than 30 specialists worked together to create and bring into life the online platform about elections “CEC: prosvita”.

During the strategic session, development and production in a very limited period of time of two interactive online courses about elections: “Elections in simple terms” and “On local elections for voters”, was mentioned by the participants as one of the achievements. In the course of these two online courses development, 40 training modules were produced with educational videos and dialogues where anyone can participate in chat with famous Ukrainian and world figures. In addition, within the framework of the “CEC: prosvita” and on the eve of 2020 local elections in Ukraine, the Council of Europe supported the Central Election Commission in developing 129 infographic materials on issues related to local elections and electoral process which reached more than 1,063,323 Ukrainians. In general, by supporting the creation and launch of the online platform “CEC: prosvita”, the Council of Europe project “Supporting the t Flashransparency, inclusiveness and integrity of electoral practice in Ukraine” contributed to the dissemination of awareness raising materials on electoral issues among more than 12,374,623 Ukrainians.

As a result of the strategic session, participants designed a vision and strategic goals, as well as developed concrete tasks that would contribute to their achievement.

* “Supporting the transparency, inclusiveness and integrity of electoral practice in Ukraine” is a project of the Council of Europe which is implemented in the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine for 2018-2022 and aims to enhance the political and legal culture of voters, the ability of public authorities to organise and conduct elections in accordance with the European electoral standards and good practices, as well as strengthen the capacity of women, young voters, national minorities to actively participate in political and public decision-making processes.
