Back The Director General of Democracy, Snežana Samardžić-Marković, promotes the Serbian edition of the Faro Convention brochure

On the occasion of the launch event for the new Serbian edition of the Faro Convention brochure, organised in Novi Sad (Serbia) by the Association “Almašani” - a member of the Faro Convention Network -, in collaboration with the local authorities, Snežana Samardžić-Marković made an opening address in English and Serbian in support of this initiative. She encouraged the widest dissemination of the brochure and thanked the Mayor of Novi Sad and the Regional Minister of Culture for their invaluable support to local heritage initiatives that will inspire other authorities in the country.

The event also emphasized the importance of the commitment of young people to cultural heritage by including the first viewing of a video performance by pupils of the elementary school “Đura Daničić” based on a poem by the famous Serbian poet Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, who lived in the Almaš neighbourhood of Novi Sad. This was followed by another film showing the children creating a clock from their own paintings of the cultural heritage in the towns and villages that feature in the Faro brochure and that develop actions in line with the principles of the Faro Convention.
