Back Launch of a new project for Southern Mediterranean countries

Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia will be the main beneficiary countries of a new project to fight corruption and money laundering worth approximately €1,5 million Euro. The project will be launched on 10 April 2015 in Strasbourg as a part of a €7,37 million CoE/EU Joint Programme “Towards a Strengthened Democratic Governance in the Southern Mediterranean” for 2015-2017 (South Programme 2). The main objective of the Programme is to contribute to reinforcing human rights, rule of law and democracy in Southern Mediterranean partner countries, in accordance with European and other international standards and on the basis of a demand-driven approach.

The new project “Promotion of good governance: fight against corruption and money-laundering” (SNAC 2) aims at improving the legislative and institutional frameworks and develop capacities of key authorities in fighting economic crime. It will also work to enhance interagency and international cooperation mechanisms in order to facilitate information exchange between homologue institutions. The project will build on the success of the previously implemented in 2012-2014 SNAC 1 project which helped initiate anti-corruption and anti-money laundering reforms in partner countries.
